Walk the Walk
Click the title of the walk to download the route file, which is in a zipped up format. You will need to unzip it then upload it into your own handheld GPS to walk with Brett, Sam and me.
- 3.8 miles – Great Hill via Dean Black Brook.
A walk up onto Great Hill via the very picturesque Dean Black Brook. Although the path alongside the brook is not shown on the Ordnance Survey map, and in places needs some care in negotiating, it’s well worth a look.
- 4.4 miles – Circuit of Anglezarke Reservoir
This is a nice easy walk that takes in country lanes with lovely old houses, and woodland trails with detours that you can explore if you have the time. It starts at the head of the reservoir and keeps it in sight for much of the walk.
- 4.6 miles – Walking the Dean Ditch
A walk taking in some of the moorland on Winter Hill and walking most of the length of the Dean Ditch, then returning via Dean Mills Reservoir and the Coal Pit Road..
- 4.8 miles – Moorland Meanderings
There are many paths to stroll along on and around Winter Hill. Some are shown on the Ordnance Survey maps, some are not. Today’s walk covered some of each as Brett, Sam and I spent a very enjoyable five miles and four hours of moorland meanderings.
- 5.2 miles – From Wilderswood to the Coal Pit Road
This walk takes in lots of beautiful moorland and covers part of a historic route of 1896 that ensured the general public continued to have access to this terrific area.
- 7.4 miles – Cave Dale and the Great Ridge
A very scenic circular Peak District walk, starting near Mam Tor and traversing the Great Ridge before descending to Castleton and climbing Cave Dale.
- 7.8 miles – Edale – Kinder Plateau – Edale
This was a very pleasant but demanding circular walk, starting at the village of Grindsbrook Booth in the Edale Valley and taking in the Kinder Plateau with a return via Jacobs Ladder and the Pennine Way.
- 8.1 miles – Circuit of Chrome Hill, Derbyshire
A very scenic walk around Parkhouse Hill and Chrome Hill, taking in the lovely villages of Longnor, Earl Sterndale and Hollinsclough.
- 8.9 miles – To Great Hill and Round Loaf
Starting near Anglezarke Reservoir, this is a stroll across Anglezarke Moor to visit Great Hill and the Neolithic burial mound called Round Loaf.
- 9.9 miles – Six Dales walk, Derbyshire
This circular walk begins at Monsal Head car park not far from the village of Ashford in the Water, and takes in Monsal Dale, Water-cum-Jolly Dale, Millers Dale, Tideswell Dale, Tansley Dale and Cressbrook Dale.
