Diary 2012 – Week 06
I took Brett, Molly and Sam for a gentle 2-1/2hr stroll this afternoon, starting from near Rivington Hall Barn and going up into the Terraced Gardens.
First Snow of Winter
We had our first snowfall of the winter today, so I took the dogs out for what would be Molly’s first experience of such conditions. Having parked the car not far from Rivington Hall we spent the afternoon wandering through woods and across fields.
Diary 2011 – Week 47
Once again the cloudy sky meant another afternoon of looking in vain for a good landscape photo opportunity. So I decided I would take a picture of a bare tree with the grey sky behind then, when I got back home spend some time having a bit of fun changing the sky to see what came up.
Diary 2011 – Week 45
I was walking across the moors of Winter Hill when I came upon the cairns on top of Two Lads Hill. They reminded me of a story by the late Arthur C Clarke, “The Sentinel” that the film “2001: Space Odessy” was based on.
Autumn Images of 2011
This is a short selection of pictures that I took during my walks in September and October that didn’t make it into any of my posts but which nevertheless I thought you might like to see.
Afternoon Stroll from Garden to Clough
The weather looked like it would be kind to me today (ie: not rain) so I decided to take a stroll through the Terraced Gardens at Rivington then return via a descent through Tigers Clough.
Photo Art
From time to time I like to spend a little time with Photoshop to produce simulated art from some of my pictures taken during various walks. I present some of them here for you to stroll through, hope you like them.
2011 Diary – Week 4
I had intended spending most of today’s walk on and around Winter Hill, but quickly thought better of it upon setting out into a cold wind that felt like it was about to cut me in half. So instead, being of a cowardly nature when it comes to my creature comforts, I opted for a calmer and warmer stroll.
Top of the Waterfall
Today I spent another three hours with the dogs in the Terraced Gardens at Rivington, including finding the top of the tiered waterfall I went looking for last Wednesday. It’s all pretty overgrown now but it must have looked really good when it was constructed in the 1920’s.
