Diary 2011 – Week 48

December 10 2011 - Afternoon on Winter Hill

In spite of occasional flurries of very cold hail, the weather wasn't too bad today, so I took Brett, Molly and Sam for a walk on Winter Hill. I parked on the Winter Hill road and we walked across the field above the layby and then followed the path along the top of Montcliffe Quarry.

From there we took the path to Burnt Edge. I had let Molly off the lead once we had left the Winter Hill road and she was soon runing about in the heather on the moor.

The path to Burnt Edge was very muddy, and there was a lot of water in the vegetation at the side, so it didn't take long for Molly, aided and abetted by Brett, to get liberally covered in it.

Brett, as ever was keen to collect as many stick as he could, and here he is watching Molly closely to see if she leaves her stick behind.

Sam prefers to walk a little to the side, but here he was interested in what Molly and Brett were trying to dig up.

Just as we arrived back at the Winter Hill road at Hole Bottoms we met young Jake Newby coming our way with his dad, his little brother Leo (fast asleep on his dad's back) and their friend Sharon. Brett and Sam obviouly remembered him from our first meeting a few weeks ago, and they were soon bringing him sticks to throw. Molly was too busy dashing about the moor to stop for a photoshoot.

A short time later we arrived back at the car, then it was off home for tea. This is a picture of Molly eating her first raw chicken, and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
